Listening to my KSC75s tonight through my go vibe 5 amp and am really enjoying the sound. No idea why I got it into my head that the 580s are for me but that's what I've been trying to find relatively cheap.

I guess my real question is: Is there a really comfortable headphone that sounds similar to the KSC75s with a little more bass?

you could buy the HD580s and install the Koss drivers inside...

Not quite that talented thought that is an interesting idea. If I knew how to do stuff like that I would through these drivers into my old Bose QC1s.

Carey its quite easy to install Koss KSC75 drivers into the HD580's the KSC75 and HD580 drivers are almost the same size so its just simply snapping the Koss drivers into the HD580 frame.

HD580s are a great pair of headphones. They have the same drivers as an HD600 which some feel is better than the HD650s. If you chose to go with them definitely give them a chance soundwise before you go about replacing the drivers and returning to the sound that you are now used to ;p I don't think I believe that there is a single can for any one person... probably need 2-3 to be remotely satisfied! Though I guess some peoples' sound signatures may correspond perfectly to ONE headphone.

IMO the K701's are closer to what you are aiming for.

Anyhow, you can add the KSC75's drivers into a HD580 build. There's a post somewhere that had photos and the whole bit. Very snazzy.

Without reading the OP's post or anybody else's response: Yes.

Seriously though, Yes.

I was listening to my KSC75 the other night using my Kenwood receiver as the amp. Sounded good dude

Then I thought "might as well get a little Beyer time with the 990 while I am at it". So I unpluged the KSC and plug in the 990, ummmmmmmmmmm, nice....

After two songs I switched back to KSC, and now...... the KSC sounded like crap, messy highs and loose bass

you just don't realize what is not-good-enough unless you compare it to the "good" stuff.

KSC75's are not bad at all by themselves, good sound at a great price. But when comparing to the higher grade phones, there is no comparasion. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

I will be very disappointed with the Senn company if the 580's are too many steps below the Beyer990. (My Senn 555's are simply no match to my 990. I sure hope the 580's are alot better than the 555).
