Do I Really Need to Download the Latest Firmware for my D2+?

I want to know if it's worth it. I am just using my D2+ to play music & listen to fm radio sometimes.

Would downloading the latest firmware be necessary? Or the is firmware the D2+ comes with from the factory good enough?

Does any of the firmware increase startup time?

And what's the latest firmware for the D2+?
