I've got an iRiver H320 and some new e3c!

I keep seeing amps mentioned, and they look pretty cool too.. so I've been wondering -

Do I need an amp? Would it really improve the sound from the e3c (to justify the cost of the amp)? Anyone else using a setup like mine and amping it up? How much are portable amps, and how much do you think one would spend on average on an amp??

Yeah, I guess that's all the newbie questions I've got ^^.

I think you're fine the way you are. Perhaps upgrading to a pair of e5 may be a good idea instead. Perhaps.

For the iRiver and E3, the amp won't be worth the cost. It's better to upgrade to the E5 if you have the money, as Kirosia suggests.

hmm. Thanks for your advice - glad to know there's enough juice from my iriver so I don't need an amp

.

e5c? Gosh, that's going to be awhile before I upgrade to those! I mean, 500 retail.. >_>. I'll stay happy with my e3c's for now. Excellent little guys, although a tiny bit difficult to put in

E5 can often be found for around $300-330 or so. (used and new, a bit pricier for the latter)

yes but then with that price, the HD650 comes into play.
