Do any of you have significant others that dislike your interests in audio?

My girlfriend absolutely hates my headphones. She thinks that anything besides the stock headphones/buds that come with a DAP is overkill and she absolutely refuses to listen to anything different. She saw my new KSC75s in my room today and got mad that I "got another pair of stupid headphones" even though they were 10 bucks.

I'll have to convert her one day and get her hooked as well

I couldn't find a good forum to post this in, so I thought it'd be fine here.

I've seen people's significant others be concerned about how much they spend on headphones and i'm sure they are not thrilled about it, but i don't think i've seen anyone that have such negative feelings towards headphones. Aren't SO's supposed to be supportive of your hobby, if not at least be indifferent about it? I can completely understand their concern from a financial aspect (esp if you are married) but I don't see the reason to hate the hobby that you have lot of passion for. It seems childish, ignorant and spiteful if you ask me.

Yes, but those were all the loosers. I dumped em' at one point or another.

My wife likes Rush, Pink Floyd and Queen. She bought me my RS1. She was the keeper

My advice to you.... Dump'em, its not worth it. Anyone who can't justify a $15 headphone, but gladly spends $500 on a purse and $100 every month on dress shoes does not deserve the enjoyment that is music listening. Anyone who is THAT stubbornly against something that can be so theraputic and enjoyable is not someone I would want to be with.

I'm extremely lucky. My wife really loves my R10 and she really admires the build and sound quality of the R10s.

Mine hates it, but now that I've sold off some stuff and have settled down (or so she thinks), she doesn't mind it as much.

Mine likes it and can discern the differences between them, but is a musician so she'd much rather play music or listen to live music (can't argue there!

). She would never buy the stuff for herself, but she has never questioned my purchases.

my wife tolerates the hobby...enjoys the music and sounds from the systems, but hates the time I spend on the computer reading and researching and communing...so must make sure to spend "quality time with her"...like watching tv

Mine stole my KSC75 for the gym. Then I bought her an AV710, built her an amp and got her a pair of Grado SR80's for home.

Doesn't mind it much, but still laughs whenever I call and say I'm building some other amp and buying another expensive headphone. Basically all the says is "As long as you don't spend more on headphones than you do on me, I'm fine." Considering my spending habits and the fact that I'll never spend more on headphones then my girl, she's never bothered me about it

More of a "Ooh, new headphones, so where are we going this weekend?"
