First of all, I love this player, and thanks to Covid-19 that is putting me on this route that I am selling it.

Conditions is near mints as some hair lines scratches may present here and there if you are OCD about such things. Otherwise, overall is excellent

EM is an extensively modified with all of the experiences that I have accumulated and compiled to be the best route to take this player to the next level without too much changes toward the original goals from Sony with all features works

The list of modifications include:

1/ Neotech UPOCC Silver with Goldplated with equal AWG or larger to the stock OFC.

This wires are swapping to: Internal connection from the DAC boards toward the Volume Potentiometer and from the Potentiometer toward the amplifier. It replaces the OFC cables internally. Every terminals are direct soldered on instead of crimped on as stock

**Upgrade toward the main DAC battery wires from original OFC

**Upgrade toward the Analog Battery modules toward the Amplifications board from original OFC

**Upgrade toward the 4 Super Capacitors from the original OFC

**Upgrade toward the DC jacks in the back toward the main board

**Upgrade toward the Power supplies from Analog external PSU wires relays in combination with DAC board

**Upgrade toward the balanced 4.4 headphones out to the amplifier instead of OFC Kimber cables. The 3.5mm remains Kimber Cables for a touch of Sony original signatures if you desired

2/ Sound tuning: in order to retrieve silky highs, Deep sub bass/controls/textures , better holographical soundstage in depth and vertical height. The Coupling and decoupling capacitors on both the DAC boards and Amplifications are replaced from Original Nichicon Fine Gold to Elna Silmic II

External Power supplies can be sold together at $12,000 asking price :Discrete and Dedicated PSU that is Linear Regulared Sigma 11 with Nippon and Silmic II capacitors together with Wima, KEMET Film capacitors, running at 19.4V. Internal wires are UPOCC Litz copper with Furutech AC socket, Furutech XLR outlet and OFC cables with Neutrik Silver plated XLR. This PSU is totally dedicated for audio performances, and has no current limit. There are steps to follow for safe operations.
When turning on
A/ turn on your DMP
B/ Connect the power cord
C/ turn on the PSU
D/ your DMP have to be operating continuously, or be playing music to avoid it sleeping mode
When turning off
A/ turn off the PSU
B/ wait for the LED power to be off and unplug
Do not plug the PSU for idle charging as the DMP would want to switch to external source but realizes that it is only charging idling, it would switch off the external source for operations. The PSU has no current limits so it will keep feeding and waken the DMP to switch to external source again. It will create a loops which will damage the devices in a long run. I will ship the Pure solid Silver 18Awg per conductor DIY power cables (3 conductors) with Neotech and Cardas ends with the PSU 1.5
All Solder joints are Oyaide SS47

To charge the DMP idling without playing music, I recommend the stock DC adapter.

My losses is your gains. I will ship anywhere as long as you are paying for the insurance and take full responsibility for your own custom fees/ risks of transport

Original boxes and accessories will come with the player. I may be missing the cleaning cloth
It may take sometimes for boxing the VanNuy case, the PSU and everything else
Price does not include PayPal and shipping Fees

Is it $3500 over retail due to the internal mods? Just making sure I'm reading that price right since I am looking for one and that my eyes don't need a cleaning since if I saw that correctly.

Ah. Not including shipping and PayPal fees. I'm interested and have the money, but $3500 more than MSRP along with the other fees, I would prefer not to make my pockets hurt. Good luck with sale.

Discrete LPSU is currently configured for USA voltage. It can be configured to run 230V with 50-60Hz as well (per transformer technical specs)

I can sell without LPSU $10,500
That’s not a bad price compared to paying retail. My DMP is also modded (wiring only) by Vince and the performance is almost even par to my Matrix X-Sabre feeding top-end desktop amplifier such as the ECP DSHA-4/Ravenswood. Vince also made me the very same LPSU. If you have the fund, you should not hesitate.

Those solder joints look ... horrific.
Must be a bad lighting. This guy made a KGSSHV carbon along as a super DIY T2 in the past. I don’t doubt his ability and know-how. If I have the money, I would have bought this one already. He actually offered it to me first. And a bad solder joint on a DIY T2 would make fireworks!

Before PayPal fees and shipping, the cost would be 1,150,000 yen. It doesn’t make sense to pile on more money after all that is considered into account. I can do it, but it’s far from a good decision and will just see what else comes in the future with the DMP-Z1. Good luck with the sale.

I think he's talking about this:

1601072818345.png

It looks pretty clear to me.

Good luck with the sale.
What's the problem with this ? I have legitimately 0.0 idea tbf. I mean it looks a little untidy/sloppy, is that it?

10k+ tho. Wow. We all know the prices of flagshipheadphones, dacs/amps and let's not even delve into speaker systems but for some reason shelling out that kind of money for a DAP seems more surreal to me

I was just pointing out what Torq was possibly talking about in his post :)

Indeed and I'm genuinely curious why it's so particularly horrifying since I know nothing about the art of soldering electronics

Soldering issues aside, this DAP can replace any top end desktop system comprising of highend DAC and very top end amplification unit. My slightly mod DMP-Z1 is already at same level as my Matrix X-Sabre pro ($2k) plus ECP Ravenswood ($5k). I am sure that @whitigr can address the solder joint issues with ease.

I can always address them for sure, but i don’t see an issue here. Perhaps it isn’t tidied up nicely, but that isn’t the point of a solder joints
