I have build some month ago my own DIY headphone amplifier.
Ten of this amplifier was made, only for somes friends audio enthusiast .
The main rules of this design was :

* A good sound experience
* unearable noise floor
* Able to drive high impedance headphone (600 Ohms)
* Remote controlled with any RC5 compatible remote. (programmable)
* Minimum manual wiring (more easy to build)
* Only one box, no external supply.
* Compact and solid design.


This amplifier use the TPA6120 headphone driver for the output, a CS3310 digital potentiometer for the volume control
and a AD8620 (or others dual AOP) for the buffering stage.The IR remote and digital volume control is made by a PIC uC.
Volume and mute can be controlled by the rotary encoder on the front panel or by any RC5 remote.
Is is very useful when i listen music in my bed!

It use also multiple low noise voltage rgulator for each channel.
An RCA analog output allow to use it as remote controlled preamplifier.
The headphone amplifier is directly supply by the main 230V or 110Vac using toroidal encapsulated transformer.

For this design, i use a beautiful and cheap Hammond aluminium enclosure.The box is machined for drilling and i have also
work with a company to add a front an rear panel silkscreen.
For PCB, I worked with a company in China which has achieved a very good job.

The resulting sound is awesome, and the pleasure to do it huge.
Of course, it is always better when it is made by ourselves!

Many measurements has been made, (THD+N, linearity, crosstalk,etc...) for my pleasure (i love this !)
And result are very good.
As long speeches are not worth as much as a few pictures ...

It is one of my DIY projects. For share all about it, i had plan to make my own web site(i have only the domain),
but with my familly life, find the time is very hard. Maybe a little later.

All parts in the design can be find in our general distributor (Digikey,Mouser, Farnell).
Build the amplifier is easy.Only the TPA6120 require to be solder on the bottom of the IC(thermal pad).
All SMD component is "large" pitch of 50mils(1.27mm).

will answer with pleasure to any DIYer who would be interested to build one.
(some PCB are yet available).

I'm only a wise DIYer. Electronics designing is also my job (not in audio).
