I love to build things, and I love to solder. Don't know why.

I'd love to build my own amp - especially like a Millet Hybrid Max, but I'm not really interested in tracking down all the parts and what-not.

Are there any high-end kits out there that come with all the parts already?

Thanks,

GAD

forum member Jeff Rossel sells a bunch of nice kits:

Glass Jar Audio

index

a few of them are actually listed on the first site, but he sells many more - all you need to do is e-mail him for the most current order form for whatever amp you're interested in. Jeff sells Millet MAX kits (i just bought one myself), so that'll save you the trouble of sourcing parts.

i have nothing but shining comments regarding jeff and glassjaraudio. ive purchased numerous kits and replacement parts from him including stuff for my MHMAX, my 4 channel balanced b22, a SOHA, and an alien dac. hes very good to communicate with via email, ships things QUICKLY, packed very well and carefully, and is just a nice guy to deal with

(always a bonus right?)! i would say without hesitation, drop him an email and order yourself up a kit, you wont be disappointed. hes also very good with customizing orders to your own specific needs, if you want something a little different than just the stock parts.

i second everything above. i wouldn't have suggested Jeff's site had i been anything less than completely satisfied with all of my transactions with him. nice guy.

Do you think Jeff will build amp for someone else?

Well, drop him a mail and ask him. For sure he won't yell at you...

Otherwise you could ask over at the headwize forum...
On Amb's site a few professional builders are listed (OK, for other projects like the M3, but again, why not ask?)

I've only seen him offering to solder on the difficult chip on the Alien DAC, no complete builds...

I'll most probably be selling one of my two MAXes, but I have to work on one a bit more and then compare them so I can keep the one that works best in my setup... so it'll take a while.

Maybe just post a WTB in the "amps FS/FT-section": "Looking for a MAX(-builder)" or something

yes, one vote for jeff,
he is friendly and you can really ask the man everything.
like they said: package : great, speed: great.

ordered 4 CK2III with him.
if they're done, well it's gotta be the Beta22

jeff, keep those parts in stock, we're coming.

i dont think he would be willing to put together an amp for you. he is not a professional builder, he is simply providing a great service to this community by allowing all of us DIYers to shortcut the system in not having to order tons of different parts from various different sources (and its a FANTASTIC "service" at that). i know he is quite a busy guy, so i would be highly surprised if he would be willing to do a build for someone else, although of course i really cant speak FOR him. as weve all said, he is a nice guy so theres definitely no harm in dropping him an email if you still want to try. but honestly i think i can already guarantee what the answer will be...i dont think that is really the "intent" of the whole DIY business anyways is it...(Do It Yourself lol)!

if you're referring to the kits that Jeff sells, detailed instructions are available for most or all of them. they aren't included with the kits themselves because they're readily accessible online.
