DIY Earbuds

Hmm, I'll try with some cheaper ones first.
I have just ordered several different drivers since there's a sale on Aliexpress currently.

Considering there will almost always be an earbud foam on top, I'd say it is not worth it to change the cap to something nicer looking at all. It would probably only be worth it if you'd be looking to go to production and want to charge premium prices for your creations and use custom driver caps that look absolutely awesome. I personally cannot see a driver cover as a selling point though... 😁
Also you will have to adjust your tuning of the bud to the new cap, it will definitely change the sound because of changed air pressure relation in front/behind the driver diaphragm.

Is that the reason many say the Artiste Nightingale has very spacious presentation?
The venting is likely part of the reason but I've noticed at least a decently wide if not exceptionally wide soundstage with pretty much every earbud that uses a graphene driver, even for ones with more restrictive venting such as the DB1E and New Lun Sheng Aeolian buds.

Has anyone tried separating 130ohm berillium driver from the plastic cap? Is there high risk of damaging it?
Not only is there a risk of damaging it any other cover will completely change the sound of the driver; my guess is that a metal cover would make it brighter and less bassy based off of my experiments with different covers for some of my builds that used drivers without outer covers.

The Lark 😁
A cheap build with a very good balanced sound
It is for those who want a technical driver with a good timbre. The bass is there too 😉

Great, I should have these shells (in white color) coming next week. @jeejack, which density tuning foam and paper did you use?

Soldering station and all the stuff for the Destiny build arrived yesterday along with a pair of these drivers. Too bad I will be gone this weekend, so I will have my hands on the Destiny build only next week.

For my tastes y2 + MHS and very important a thicker cable to block as much air as possible coming out of the shells
