... You know what must be done.

In the name of science of course

Ha! You know it!

dudes.... I'm doing a comparison of the DAnswer, AKG3003i, 1Plus2, Ref. 1, Heaven VI - out of Hugo right now.

With Ultra-high bitrate master recordings of Norah Jones, before compression. The files are like 8Gb, each.

This, this is audio nirvana.

Now that's a comparison i am looking forward to. The only one of those sets that has me intrigued though is the Ref 1. I am feeling smugly satisfied with The Answer Truth.

Wish i could hear it fed by a Hugo though.

Note how I use qualitative terms. Does this seem more beneficial than talking about bass decay and texture to no end?

Ok, the Ref. 1 is a 1plus2 + a dose of FAD magic.
If you can imagine that. Everything is clean and precise, details are everywhere, the soundstage enormous and it's 3D. It's clean and clear and it also is human, natural and organic. There is a richness, not a coloration of sorts, but a density to the music that is rich, and intimate in it's crystal clear presentation.
It his highly extended both ways, but not bright. All the details are very discernible, and they are textured and clean, but smooth and elegant.

The Highs take a backseat to the mids that are full and rich and alive and absorbing to no end. And the bass is bottomless. Folks in the US can dig to China on this bass. I mean we are talking an isobaric dynamic driver, sealed, proprietary, and a unique set of BA's in each earphone. It just sounds good. Real good. Tight, robust, authority. Nothing low quality here. You sink in to these earphones, and you might not make it back out of that hole.

The Final Audio Heaven VI is the most absorbing.
It takes a second to get used to the sound signature after the others, but once you do, you just lose yourself to the music and forget everything else. It's pure music. But the details up high are still very clean and the bass is still robust and tight. It makes everything else sound "Audiophile" and so unnatural compared to a real life presentation of a live show. Sure, the other boys in this line-up are really good stereo systems, the best, but FAD isn't a stereo system. You're not thinking about any of that anyway when you're lost in the music. It's just pure musical rapture.

3003i was clean, extended up high with lots of detail, great extension, and the most sparkle up high than all of these. But it's not that uber-yum sparkly extension that's too bright, that part is perfect, there's a nice little spike in the upper mids that sounds pretty good most of the time, but is prone to catching a few hard 'S's a little here and there in the vocal presentation. It's really not bad, and I've heard much, much, MUCH, worse "hi-fi" crap. And most of the time on the 3003i, that "spike" renders vocals with a texture and realism that sounds great.
Bass is all there, supports beautifully, and is just clean and detailed. A bit lighter in the low end than the other guys, but once you settle in, it's all you need, and you're completely satisfied with it. It works, and the bass is so tastily vivacious.

Oh, 1plus2, you never cease to woo me. I love you. I've been listening to you for several years, and still want you.
We all know that big house rumble is there, the Tralucent house, but it's done with finesse. It has the ability to be in complete control when needed on Jones, but steps up to the plate and hits a triple when called upon, and does it with ease and swagger.

Despite the U-shape, vocals don't feel far at all. They are clean, but they sound organic and transparent, a more honest perspective on her vocal talent. Like the AK3003i, it has that spike in the upper mids that can catch some harsh Vocals a few times, and some snares on some bright rock will be, bright, and bit hot, just like they recorded it.

The treble extension way up high is nearly on par with the AK3003, with nice air and sparkliness that fancies the ears, and doesn't ever become too intruding. Some of the best treble around.

The DITA. My misfit.
I still don't know what to call you. You keep changing up on me. You're a chameleon. And you're the only earphone that has been able to convince me beyond doubt that earphone (or dynamic drivers) are capable of changing with time.

And in this case, the DITA changes just by lookin' at em. They settle in and we reach a nice little plateau, and I think, this sounds pretty damn good! Nicely done. Then it pulls out the magic hat, rips the bunny out and before you know it, they are a different earphone again. NOW THERE'S BASS! It was hiding.

Oh that irritating upper mid juicy spike? Let me keep lowering that just to your liking, it says. The treble is all there. It lacks a tiny smidgeon of refinement compared to the others, but it's not too bad, and there's a nice big stage for it to breath into, so it's not right up on you, and plays for some nice stereo separation too. Mids and vocals are bit more laid back than the BA that handles them mids in the 3003i. But they are clear and and a bit more rich, but naturally.

Not the hugest soundstage here, but huge nevertheless, and once you settle in and chill out with the sound, you hear even more micro detail in the treble. You're not just listening for the major points anymore, you're listening past that, and that's when things start to get addictive. You can get sucked into these. They are easy flowin', and you just wanna keep listening to them, no fatigue, despite the waning upper mids spike. And treble is definitely accounted for, solidly, but it's not harsh. It's a touch smooth, just enough to keep them in your ears until wayyy too late at night. Goodnight y'all.

Edit: for added thoughts and clarity
