You can now download Nine Inch Nail's latest single from their website for free. Apparently it was mastered on Monday and emailed to various radio stations on Tuesday.

Oh yeah, and the mp3 file's comments say to check back on nin.com on May 5.

Trent Reznor is a genius. The new track is awesome and I can't wait to see what they have planned for the 5th.

Discuss.

Was I the only one disappointed not to find a King Crimson thread?

Oh, and I do like NIN - I'll check out the new release. King Crimson is worth checking out, too.

Thanks for the heads up moose. In properties, there's a "?" for album title as well, so I assume a new album will be announced 5 May - YZII? That's a little too easy, so I almost expect a curveball.

To me, the new song is decent after the first couple of listens.

Ok confused. Not familiar with NIN enough to know if Trent releases 2 albums close together much (If a release is soon), but we just got Ghost...

Not complaining at all, just curious.

I've discovered a love for NIN lately. Anyone else remember hearing about how Trent put the last album on some flash drives and put them in the bathroom at a concert for people to take? I remember hearing he got sued by his own record label for distributing his own record.

correct me if I'm wrong.

I was thinking the exact same thing. As for the single, I'm not too impressed after the first listen. To me the song just screams "radio single". Don't get me wrong I'm a huge NIN fan, but this one didn't do it for me. I'll probably still buy the new album regardless though.

No this is not too common. There used to be a 5+ year gap between albums for Trent. He broke the cycle with Year Zero.

Yes sir, this mid-life creative spurt (cash-in according to some) has been surprising to old school nin fans like myself. The guy is working hard to make up for lost time. I fear he may risk overexposure, but he would know better than I with the data mining. Anyway, it would be a sad day for me if a new Nails release arrived less anticipation.

Crimson is King...

NIN, while churning out excellent sound quality, have been churning out the same old - same old for the last how many releases?
How many mutations of Pretty Hate Machine do we get?

Obviously you haven't heard the recent album, Ghosts I-IV. It's easily the most separated NIN album if you ask me.

Not just you - I was hoping for a little Elephant Talk myself.

Another NIN song has come up (presumably from the same album, EP or whatever that Discipline will be on, judging by the art used), Echoplex: http://c.ilike.com/d/0000/198/000019...s-Echoplex.mp3

Also, Ghosts 37 and 38 have appeared on the Internet. From what I gather these feature as multi-track pieces on the higher packages of Ghosts I-IV, but you should be able to find the multi-tracks plus FLAC and MP3 people have constructed already on torrents and file sharing sites.
