Dilemma!!! rs-1 or w5000 ?

i am so close to purshasing right now, and i don't know what to pick.

i listen to prog rock, folk prog rock, jazz, funk, ambient, post rock

this is a really hard decision when spending so much money, i have sr-125 and HD600, and i really like the grado sound, but maybe the ATH w5000 is more suitable for the variety of music, or should i go for rs-1?

i really am unsure either way

As always, a system dependant choice...I could go on with the standard questions; However, they are well known; Refine your search using the search function first please; And then return with specific questions not answered there for you; Stating the prerequisite for useful advice, that being other than your music (which is important to know also), "your system" and budget.

If you decide on W5000, you should also consider getting better source (and amp). W5000 is really picky about upstream source. On the other hand, AD2000 is not so picky about source. You should also consider AD2000.

RS-1.

Alright, I haven't heard the W5000. But I've spent hundreds of happy hours with the RS-1 and it usually gets the strongest, immediate positive reaction from anyone who listens to my headphone collection.

The RS-1 is hugely fun and a joy to listen to. I reach for it over the others most of the time. If you already like the Grado sound, the RS-1 should knock you flat.

I'll throw another Grado out there for you to research, the RS-2, if found used in good condition (helping with you budget), could be the phone worth looking for.
