Digital out

noob here. but i just got some dt 770's and a pa2v2. my sound card is an audigy 2. now i heard you want use line out cause its not amped. is that the same as digital out? and if so how do i get it to work cause its way fuzzy now and i can barely hear whats coming out.

No. Line out is not the same as digital out. You should be using the line out of the audigy.

As its name imply, it send digital data out.

To be connected to an external DAC. (Digital to Analog Converter)

Go for an AV710 (or a 24 bit Sound Blaster Live if you can't find one) and an external DAC.

yea im a newb so inform me of these dacs and why do i need one? and maybe links to them. also with the emu's those look really complicated so more info on them would be much appreciated. and thanks for yalls help

Yes it's 24-bit. Make sure it haves the software 'Device Control' and don't convert every file to 48khz.

yea im pretty sure it doesn't have device control. i lost the driver and app cd so i cant get anything but audio console to install. i dled the eax console and what not but it just said it couldn't find necesary components

If you want to game with all the effects and cool stuff, you'll probably want an x-fi card. The entire series has digital output.

Digital output is found in various connectiosn, but mostly in two:
1) RCA Digital Coaxail, this is one jack that looks identical to those found on the back of a tv for connecting a VCR or DVD player, it is generally labelled SPDIF as that is the interface (sony phillips digital interface)
2) Digital Optical, this is found in minijacks for some laptops like the new apples or portable players, but generally is found on a pc with the bigger sized jack. It usually has a little door to put the cable in, and it may be labelled TOSLINK. This is not an electrical connection like digital coaxail.
