In the audio MIDI Setup options on my mac I noticed you can set the format to 96khz 24bit. Do I need to change it manually according to the bitrate? Would playing music that is 44.1khz that is digital out at 96khz be of a lesser quality than 44.1 out?

Just got a 96khz 24 bit dvd-a flac recording and was wondering how I can play it.

You must manually change it, and it usually defaults to 24/96 I believe.

Iv'e tested 24/96 on the MAC with the Off-Ramp Turbo 2 and it sounds great. I think it sounds better upsampled than leaving it at 16/44.1.

thanks for the response. i'll keep it set to 24/96 then. Much easier and makes a new light turn on on my Lavry.

So, if I set to 96/24 in midi setup, will optical and USB output be 96/24?

If will affect the optical out. But really unsure if it will affect USB..

I think I've answered my own question, if using OffRamp Turbo2 then USB must be 24/96.

It's whatever the Utilities/Midi options is set to, 24/44.1, 24/48 or 24/96.

Bumping this year old thread. Does anyone's format output revert back whenever you take out the digital out? When I have my optical in, I choose 96khz, and if I take it out and put it back in, it goes back to 44.1khz. Is this the default setting?
