I have a sharp mt90 and I just got a denon 370. I've been doing my MDs using an optical out on an old sony minisystem. Now, I just got the denon, and I'm wondering: should I use the denon's ANALOG out? Aren't the burr brown DAC about 3 billion times better than the ones in the MD? Note: I'd be using a crappy cable that came with my MD.

You are comparing
Denon DAC + MD A/D + MD D/A process
vs
MD D/A

which do you think would have the edge.

Just my .02 worth, but I'd say you're much better off staying digital. If you want to stop using the Sony, you could get a digital format converter (I'm assuming the Denon is coax digital out). I've got the Midiman CO2 and it works really well. But it would be my (educated) guess that the sony digital out will produce a better recording than the Denon going DA to minidisc AD. In all honesty you may not be able to tell a difference either way, but it will be easier to separate tracks doing it digitally since it is usually automatic.
