Do you think there is any noticeable difference between the digitally created music recorded on vinyl (e.g. techno LPs for DJ's) and the same musc recorded on CD's?

Thank you.

Interesting question.

My guess is that there could be under some circumstances. If the orginal digital master was recorded in, say, 24-bit then directly transfered to vinyl, I would guess the quality would be better because it would not have to be cutdown for CDs (they are 16-bit right?). Same goes for sampling rate.

To tell you the truth, my understanding of recording is pretty foggy so the above may make no sense. It just seems like being able to transfer straight from the original digital recording to an analog pressing would be better than having to reformat it for CD.

Ah well... at the worst the above explanation serves as a slightly more interesting than normal ^bump^ for this interesting question.

blip,

I was thinking the same thing - that vinyl would capture more of the original information. But I was looking for a professional dj (or some other figure of authority on the issue) to confirm it. Do you know if there is another section on this forum or another forum where could find such an answer?

A.

P.S. Thank you for sharing! Your reply was definetely better than a normal ^bump^. And what exactly do you mean by "bump," actually?

Indeed, they do!

A ^bump^ is a meaningless message that is meant to raise a message higher on the forum so that more people notice it. I realized my answer was a bit confusing so I decided to turn it into a bump.

So anyone have any info on this?
