is there a way to tell the difference between the different Grado drivers? i just purchased some headphones from someone who claimed that they were SR225 drivers encased in MS2 covers. just wondering if there was i way i could tell for sure if they were indeed 225's.

thanks.

between a SR225 and a MS-2 driver? unfortunately, no. in fact, not even between a SR60 and a RS-1 i believe. they all look black

the only big diff is between a HP-1000 and anything else, because that driver is white, while the others are black.

well, i just meant between all the Grado drivers. possibly the ms2 drivers, too. i dunno..i've just never heard a 225, so i wouldnt know either way really. they are actually in the posession of [AK]Zip who was going to recover the cable for me. they can be seen here:

not to mention he said there's some shoddy soldering work. sigh.

sigh... perhaps, i should have sold them to another person, who was willing to pay a bit more than asking price.. (shipping out of country) however u were the first in line so... if you dont want it, tell Alex to ship back to me. ill refund u the amount..

as for the sr225 drivers, you are really in doubt, ask Larry from headphile.com. He might remember doing the modification. (he did the swapping job for me about 4-5 months ago)

as for the soldering tech. and so on, i have nothing to say. i aint at the pro-level like some reputable members of this forum. that is why i try to leave everything open, not sealed with heatshrinks or anything, so that i or anyone can re-mod them when it is necessary..

On all Grados you can see the soldering. If that is what quoteunquote is talking about.

it's not that i don't want them. when Alex first got them..he told me that they sounded a bit off. so we were trying to figure out why. after he started desoldering he found out that the wiring was wrong. (he can tell you exactly what, i dont know much about all that..which is why i had them sent to him.) so he corrected the problem and said they sound more like they should.

he got it all covered. now theyre on the way to me.
