I've sent a message to Turbulent Labs and not gotten a reply so I thought I'd ask here.  Other than the published differences in leather are there any differences between the two headbands especially from a padding standpoint?
 
Hopefully someone has seen both.

I finally heard back from Jin at Turbulent Labs, here was the answer for posterity:
 
Hi, the black manta uses locally sourced leather from Malaysia and has a matte finish. The Onyx Manta uses leather imported from New Zealand and have a burnished finish. Both are padded with the same padding and have the same dimensions. 
 
So exactly the same, except for the leather used.
