difference between the original gilmore SS (as found in headwize) vs dynalo?

Nadda. They are the same amp.

There is one variant PCB floating around here which uses trimming pots instead of resistors for the LED CCS to adjust the DC offset. And there's another variant somewhere in the headwize forums which has diodes in the cascode to prevent thermal drift which all people have stated was negligable anyway, but hey if you can, do.

As Garbz said. The Dynalo boards currently available from dgardner have the trimpots for CCS adjustment as well as an option to use diodes on the second stage I believe. You can of course build it as the original. The only other difference would be in the PSU. Most people use the Dynahi PSU and detune it to the +/-16.4V for use with a Dynalo. I believe that steinchen did do a PSU board that was similar to the original Gilmore Dynamic psu that was intended only for use with a Dynalo. Not sure how far he got on that however.

Seems like a good place to ask this. What are the electrolytic and large film caps on the Dynalo board for? I don't see them anywhere in the schematic.

Edit: Never mind, found it. I am blind, it was on the schem on dgardner's site, just not on the original Headwize project. (for anyone else who is wondering, they are PSU decoupling caps)
