as you all know, i have been on a hunt for the right headphones. it was such a problem for me because of tight budgets, no money income to save up, plus everything was beyond expensive. so now i think ill do something else, something that will help my sisters little computer-but-no-speakers problem and get a boombox. that way, i can give her my 2.1 setup and get a brand new reciever and speakers together. sort of liek killing 2 birds with one stone, except its 3 birds. now i dont have to use my moms old record player/reciever thing. i can now also play CD's too which is another plus when im not on the computer and dont wanna turn it back on to listen to some songs. something else hit me too about this particular boombox, which many have, is a remote. i thought wow, im so lazy to turn the volume down when it s too high that i just say who cares and go to bed. with the remote, which i know comes with other mini shelf systems and boomboxes as well, would be a luxury ive never experienced before lol. heres the link to it, its a bit of a monster but nots as big as the ones i saw at the actual sony stores:

because i am so down by the fact that no headphones will be within reach anytime soon anyways, i might as well do something to ease that hunger for more audio equipment this way. i will be getting a job but not till next year and i dont know if ill get it but itll be better than staying at home with no money income or allowance. i guess for now until they die, my Sennheiser HD212pros will serve me for a year or so. then, i will get an amp to start slowly building up my audio equipment as many people said in my threads how surprised i could be by amping the senns.

well, theres my last resort in improving atleast something in my audio setup. i will be running a tape adapter from my computer to the boombox as i am now with my moms reciever. it works quite well and that way i have 2 areas where i can work with an equalizer. itune for fine tuning and the 3 bands on the reciever for general tuning.

thanks guys for all your help.

p.s. i will be getting those headphones sometime soon.... *drools*

$300 headphones are going to sound a lot better than these $300 dinky little speakers. I'd get headphones and save up for some good speakers, myself.

I'm still puzzled by this spec:

Front: 125 Watts Per Channel x 2 (FTC 10% THD, 120-10kHz).

I'm not sure if this is amp or speaker spec (I'm guessing speakers). As you probably know already, most humans can hear 30-15Khz and most of manufacturers make audio system to produce 20-20Khz. I think 120hz means main speakers are cut off at 120Hz or above, but why not include spec for 20Khz?

Anyways, my real point is that there are lot cheaper boomboxes or mini-systems with remotes that produce fairly good sound under $300 bucks. Go browse overstock.com or clearance sale at buy.com/amazon.com. If you can save $50-100 bucks for your mini-system, you can pick up Grado SR-60, Sony MDR-V6, Sennheiser HD-280, or any other descent headphones.

i know, but i think i should stick with the headphones i got now. i can use your advice for future reference. i actually need a new system. and needed it longer than the headphones.

edit: plus i got a gift certificate there from a friend for 100 dollars lol. now i get 80 dollars from sold eggos. then i get birthday money and a job. by this time, i could have the sony system but then have a decent amount to get headphones ranging from Koss portapros to AKG K240's. which is the headphones i want. then i need that amp. or maybe i should get the ampp before.

Can you go somewhere and listen to various systems? Picking speakers from printed specifications is pretty difficult. It's a lot easier to hear them.

tried it out. wow its nice. took a cd in as someone suggested. no one cared so i played my tunes. the woofer was at a perfect level and pumped out a good amount of bass. my mom even liked it, even though she saw how beefy the system actually was.

but my mom thinks i should spend it on something better. like a gift for my sister.... so now, i HAVE to get her new computer speakers. and i have to keep mine. eeeeeewwwwwww. well, so much for killing 2 birds with the one stone thing. well, after spending on speakers, i think my gift card will be something less than awesome.... useless. then i have around 85 in cash. well, as soon as i was done digesting what i had to do, i started looking for some hope, a hint of a low price on a good DAP. i SERIOUSLY need one. i saw a zen micro for 191us for a 4gig version. i thought wow. i have hope again. I HATE BEING FORCED TO CHANGE MY MIND ALL THE TIME.
