Anyone heard of this thing? Looks like a newly formed company, but claims three years of R&D for the DAC212. I can't find any real information on the company, or when/if the DAC212 will release.

The phone number has a +31 country code, so I presume it's in the Netherlands.

Technology-wise, it looks at least no crimes were committed. It does input upsampling interpolation to 1.5625 MHz to pass onto the ES9018S. No mention of custom filters, and they mention preserving linearity of phase, so I assume it uses the slow roll-off FIR filter.

Like most Sabre-equipped devices, the volume control is done via the 32-bit digital volume control for both the headamp portion and digital preamp.

Power management suggests care; the marketing materials seem to suggest that it's populated with 12 nice quality linear regulators, including the LT1963.

The headamp portion delivers 250 mA current and has low OI at 1.6 ohms, so I'm guessing it's buffer driven by either the LME49600 or BUF634.

It does input via USB and S/PDIF up to 24/192, so pretty standard there; no indication regarding how it does clock generation and PLL recovery. Because it's 32-bit input but only up to 192 kHz, I'm gonna guess they're using a C-Media CM6631A as USB receiver.

No balanced output, only RCA.

Exterior-wise, it looks attractive enough --- minimal one-piece aluminum chassis, remote control --- looks like design cues cribbed from a lot of other DAC designs, but whatever, looks fine to me.

Overall, seems like a solid offering. If it were in the $1K range, it'd be something worth considering, but I have a feeling this thing will end up more around $2K or more. But zero indication of price.

Did some more digging and got the founder and engineer's LinkedIn profile, where he showed off the DAC and a prototype amplifier:

Looks like he was at Focal before, where he worked on the well-received SM9 studio monitors.

Thread resurrection. I have a demo unit of the latest version of this DAC here with me at the moment, alongside a Chord HugoTT.  I'll be drawing up a proper comparison / review soon, but cutting to the chase -  I'm impressed with one of them enough that I'm buying it (hint - it's not the Chord!).

As promised, I've posted a full review of the DAC212.  It's an impressive piece of kit!
