So I got my first Grados today thanks to this great forum and they sound amazing. I remember reading one of the posts here that recommended cutting out a quarter sized hole in the middle of the flat pads to enhance the sound so I did but I want to make sure I didn't damage the SQ?

Decide for yourself! Do you like the way they sound with the quarter-mod?

Personally, I think they sound even better with bowl pads over the stock ones, so cutting a hole in them seems like a step in the right direction to me.

The sound quality is supposed to be much better. The main problem with those were that the sound had to go through them. They improved that with the bowl pads but the bowls are much stiffer and less comfortable.

Yeah if anything the sound should be improved. If you want to try some different donut-style pads take a look at the flat pads over at TTVJ.
