I actually had my Diana Phis for sale on audiomart for over a month as it hurt to wear for over an hour at a time.... a few low ball offers so I decided to keep them and see what I could do to improve the comfort.

The simple 20 dollar pad mod made all the difference in the world.

To your point, 4 grand and you have to add 20 dollar Dekoni pads to make them right, not ideal, i agree .... but... in the end, its all about sound quality, they are my favorite headphones by far.

In defense of Abyss, fit will be different for everyone so I'm sure it's difficult to make a universally comfortable headphone while still focusing on sound quality (form following function).

I never have to readjust them either. I have a larger head size and can use the Diana / Diana V2 / Phi for long periods with really good comfort. Sonically, they are spectacular!

interestingly if I do not have to move I find the 1266 TC surprisingly comfortable....there is no clamping pressure to speak of and they just kind of float above my head....a bit cumbersome to be sure but when I am done listening I do not have that feeling of clamping discomfort

Sonically, I would say that the Diana V2 and Phi are the best sounding on-the-go headphones around.

perhaps "wearability" might be a better word to describe my experience with the abyss ab-1266. it wasn't uncomfortable per se but i found its weight and design made it an unwieldy headphone to wear.

the issue i had with the original diana was the same as the reviewer described in his video about the diana phi. while i welcomed its compact design and lighter weight, it exerted pressure on both sides of my head. the larger ear pads on the diana v2 largely alleviated that pressure, but i still couldn't describe it as a comfortable headphone to wear - ymmv.

I totally agree with the comfort issue , when i had the Diana Phi i remember that the 1266 was more comfortable on my head ,
The most part i disagree with this review is about imaging and details,, the Diana grasp the the spirit of the 1266 in that regard , though the the experience is much diluted , the dynamics and slam of the 1266 is really untouchable ,, i wish the Diana was more for the price but i couldn't justify keeping it .

 

[Abyss Headphones]

Diana Phi now comes in a new second color, Dark Bronze, with the new 'V2' ear pads. The Titanium Gray now comes with black 'V2' ear pads. Both offer a more universal fit that prior versions. Keep in mind that like the AB-1266, Diana headphones are purposely designed to have minimal clamping force. Attempting to adjust fit for a seal is not the norm with these headphones, the drivers are self-damped and tuned for a loose fit with leakage.

Can you elaborate on the V2 pads vs the stock Diana Phi pads?

Should I be considering upgrading my stock Diana PHI pads? Comfort? Sonic improvement?
