I have been waiting for 2 weeks now, and although that was within the quoted time frame I was still wondering what was taking Gateway to send my laptop. Good thing I decided to pester them and check on it.

It turns out it was shipped on June 26 for next day delivery

I count 10 days

now they will "put a trace on it", then if not found they will "contact the shipper" . . . . who knows when I will see either the laptop or the reimbursement.

worst part is in the meantime I am without.

I will go scream now . . . .

Does anybody have any experience with this sort of thing that can give some tips how to expedite this?

I feel with you!
Lets hope they track it down, or that you get a replacer really fast.

Hang on there...

Repair or new laptop? If its new have Gateway send another to make you happy or complain and tell them you'll never go with Gateway and their bad shipping partner. Worth a try. Good luck with it.

Wow, I don't think I ever had a package delivered to me via DHL. Their color scheme is so horrendous.

This has steered me away too. I just somehow cannot trust a bloodied school bus to deliver expensive electronics.

Yet it's okay that they deliver children...

It is a warranty repair that was turned around by Gateway fairly swiftly; I should have had it back one week from the day it left if not for DHL.

I have been getting bounced back and forth between Gateway and DHL all afternoon.

At this point DHL left me a phone message (the 5 minutes I had to step away of course they chose to phone) stating that I need to contact the shipper and have them file a claim. Then Gateway has me on hold as they bump me up the chain to a supervisor who politely refers me to corporate.

To boot none of the numbers they provide are toll-free and of course they are closed until Monday

from previous experience with UPS at my work, if the package is deemed "lost" they put a tracker on it. which means they'll do further invsetigation, im guessing that means checking the lost & found at the last place where the label was scanned. anyways this happened once and UPS told me that it is the shippers responsibility to take care of everything... they told me if it isn't found within a certain time they can place a claim through UPS and that takes another week or so. i dont think our package was ever found and we didnt get charged for the product.
so i suggest you keep bothering gateway... if they have no proof that the product was received, then you should get back something in return.
good luck
