Hello,

I have recently opened my eyes to the audio world. Beforehand I used to use $50ish in ear headphones when I was on the move, while using lower end gaming headset for PC Gaming. I got tired of the low audio quality pretty quickly and bought a more expensive gaming headset aswell as the 1More Quad Driver for when I'm on the move. What this means is, that I am rather new to the audio world and therefore have a very limited knowledge on the topic. I am looking to upgrade my desktop audio setup, with a higher end headset, a DAC/Amp and a mic. Does anyone know some good combinations? My budget is around $1000 for the whole set up.

EDIT 1: The set up will mainly be used for PC Gaming, however I listen to music around 70% of the time playing. So I'm looking for a kind of hybrid. My taste in music is very wide, but I mostly listen to EDM and more quiet song writers such as Shawn Mendes, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran.

What Headset do you use with this DAC/Amp?
Beyerdynamic T90 (open) headphones, really good clarity
I never use micphones, not into FPS gaming, usually play C&C Generals/ZeroHour (it's an old game).

Wow Nice set of headphones! Sadly it's a bit out of my price range :/. Thanks a bunch for your input, I'll definitely take a look at the DAC/Amp, however the site looks a bit fishy :P

That's my childhood right there. Does Generals work with Windows 10?

I've ordered three DAC/amps from Audio-GD, over the past five years, no regrets and would buy from them again.
Their site is just very basic, and I do not think they over promise anything.
I usually takes 5 days from time of payment (Paypal), to when the order arrives at my foordoor (California).

Wow just 5 days, that's hella quick! Where are they located?

Yep, A few time I've had to clean out and do a fresh install of C&C on my Windows 10 PC.
Maybe after playing the game over a few hundred times, mouse function will start failing, then fresh install, and it's back to gaming

Here is the website with add-ons that I use for playing C&C (on Win 10)

I believe the International shipping (headquarters?) office is in Hong Kong, but the units appear to be manufactuered in China.

Just seems wild that you got it in just 5 days. Whenever I order from ex. the US, it takes around 15 days :O
Audio-GD would normally ship using DHL, for shippments going to the USA.

If you're mostly PC gaming then I'd highly suggest getting a custom 5.1 surround setup, like my original one which cost me under $800. No headphone can ever dream of competing with that obviously lol. You might like the speakers (at least in 2.1 mode) more for music as well due to their presentation/sound stage and the presence of a subwoofer.

I will second the NFB 11.28 and don't worry about the odd ordering method. They are very legit (watch any review of any of their products). As of gaming cans I am still looking for the perfect pair. Right now I am using AKG 7XX but there is not enough bass and I want closed cans because I game in the same room as my wife. I have on order the modhouse Argons. I can let you know about them when they get here in a few weeks.
