What can you tell me about this turntable? Can someone recommend a decent inexpensive stage to go with it?

How inexpensive?

I'd be more concerned with choosing a cartridge, by the way.

This is actually my dad's, and he kinda controls the money. Knowing him, $300 is probably his utmost limit, and he'd prefer something a good deal cheaper. Keep in mind this is going into a standard $199 Yamaha integrated receiver, so expensive stuff would be overkill anyway (though future upgrades are a distinct possibility)
Recommendations for a cartridge would be nice too.

Are you sure that Yamaha doesn't have a phono section? That'd save a lot of cash, allowing you to get a better cartridge and ultimately better sound.

LOL, if it had a phono section I wouldn't be asking you about a stage, now would I?

Hmmm, yes, that's quite a nice table... What about a Denon DL-110 or DL-160 (both MCHO) for the cartridge and a nice little NAD PP2 as phono stage?

Greetings from Hannover!

Danke!
That NAD should fit our budget nicely. I'm wondering about the cart, since our old table had a $40 dollar Audio-Technica and $139 is somewhat high for good ol' dad. We may end up re-using it for a bit. Keep in mind he was gawking at four-figure price tags for the CD players at SF Stereo when I got my Grado's.
