Resurrected thread!

Was this ever held in high regard? Is it worth £30? Other options I can get used for the same or less:

Denon DCM 340
Technics SLP277A
Technics SLPG200A
Sony CDP597

Any thoughts on the best of this bunch?

For a while I owned a DCD-560 which was roughly the same vintage and the same tech (20 bits 8x oversampling). It was very quiet in operation and the internal and external build quality was superb, when I opened it up it was a thing of beauty.

Having said that second hand CD players especially those in the 15 - 20 year old category are plentiful and dirt cheap. £30 seems a bit on the high side, my last two (Philips 580) and (Onkyo 1400) were £15 and £17.50 respectively.

I am about to chuck the Philips as the transport is getting a bit clicky, one of the drawbacks with units that age you do not know how much life they have in them.

Okay, sounds like it may be worth a punt if I can get it a bit cheaper. Otherwise, I'll just keep an eye out for something else.

Cheers.

I just picked up a Denon DCD-910 from eBay for £17 which has a digital output to replace my Philips 580.
