Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

They removed GST as it is paid upon arrival in Aus so I paid $1960 AUD + $53 shipping which is about 300 in customs fees
The headband and earpads on my D7200 are black, whereas on my D9200 they're very dark brown - the earpads are actually even lighter than the headband. Is this usual?
What cable is that on the 9200?Not on mine.

It's the 2.5 balanced oem cable of the Pioneer SE-Monitor 5.
Works pretty well with the BTR5 and the D9200.

Yeah, as @Chris Kaoss has mentioned, the headband on the AH-D9200 has the same black shade as the one on its younger sibling, the AH-D7200. I don't particularly recall seeing it in any other color (e.g. dark brown).

In any case, that subtle brown makes it look a lot classier, IMO.

Afaik, the D7200 has a split headband.
The bottom should be fake leather, the top should be sheepskin leather.
The white stitches will force the slightly different look.
Time of wear will change the look of the leather too.

Can you try to briefly compare to other Denon-DAP pairings you know?
I was not a fan of the pairing with the DX300. It wasn't bad, but the synergy is better with the M8 and the SP2000, it appeared to have slight upper mid harshness. I no longer have the Hiby R8 but I do remember I enjoyed the pairing. The SP2000 has a broader and wider stage with more precision than the M8. The M8 has a wonderful organic and natural tone. The SP2000 would be a favorite pairing if I had to choose one, but honestly, not by a long stretch. Also, I am pairing it with a Fusion Series Arctic Cable.
