Here you have some briefly impressions that I've just written about these headphones in "The closed back thread".

Nice to see you finally got your pair. Good first impressions as well.
They have a tendency to get better and then ... you get used to the sound :).
I see you are in the Canary Islands. Once this lockdown thing ends, I plan to take the lady in the area for some sun.
Seen Lanzarote and Grand Canaria. She has been in Tenerife with the ladies but I haven't. I am sure we can revisit one of our destinations for a Cerveza.
If I have a genius Idea, I might put the Arche in my backpack so you see how the 9200 sounds with this amp :).

I had a wonderful D9200 session this morning. Using the Romi BX2+, SP2000 and Dire Straits DSF Communique..started my day off right

I grew up with the Album in the car.
We used to drive everywhere and my dad has a big ass collection with the greats (Led, Bad Company, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, etc).
Last year for his birthday I got him a nice Strat so he brings back his rocker days. I got him the Jimi Hendrix colour as he is a big fan. I think Knopfler is on a Les Paul if memory serves. It is on my to do list for next year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE! WHILE THIS ONE WAS DIFFERENT, THE NEXT ONE IS GOING TO BE EVEN BETTER!

Sorry for the bad quality.

It seems like a lot of people here own both the MDR-Z1R and the AH-D9200. It's an interesting fact, but not a particularly surprising one, since these 2 headphones are summit-residents within the closed-back space.

For what it's worth, both of these headphones encapsulate the majesty of a well-executed, brilliantly-textured bass presentation; the Sony is grander in body and impact, whilst the Denon is faster and a touch leaner. Pick your poison - both offer a supreme bass experience.

That’s the thing with impressions I guess we often hear something different. I do not find the Z1R to have more bass presence or more impact at all. I agree that the Z1R has a bigger stage though.

How to start the new year ? Enjoy a nice audio session while you talk to Matt from Forza to make you a new adapter so you finally use the balanced output on your Arche. For the time being, this works 😊.

Guys, I just ordered a pair. Want to get a 4.4 mm cable. Any Focal, late Hifiman, Sony 3.5mm cables should work right?

Yep, using a Sony+Kimber 4.4mm cable meant for the MDR-Z1R right now even 😃 plugged into the amazing little Zen Stack.

My Arctic Fusion Series cable arrived for my D9200 as well as the interconnect. I wanted to share some photos. Stunning cable!

question... the stock cable on headphone side is only a TS connector, but all the pictures i see of aftermarket cables for the 9200 is a TRS connector. why? does it take a TRS connector inside the jack? if not wouldnt it just be having a balanced cable with unused wires which makes it actually not balanced?

Bc TRS is more common, i guess.
Plus based on my logic, you can use the TRS for TS and TRS sockets w/o any damage, which isn't possible with TS into TRS socket bc of the pins inside?! ❓

May someone with better knowledge shed some light on. :)

My guess would be that it's just less cumbersome and cheaper to use the same plugs and sockets for things. I have a bunch of cables with headphones and some have TRS like the Sony and Beyerdynamic cables whilst others have TS like Denon, Meze, and Focal, they all work in all headphones space permitting.

I've always wondered where the double plug 3.5mm balanced connection came from. My guess is that they felt that XLR4 would be wrong for consumer applications (due to its size) and decided to go for the plugs they had. Not a bad idea.

Hi there,
is there anyone here who runs the D9200 with EQ?
I have now made the following settings on my RME ADi 2 DAC according to the measurements from Oratory1990 and Crinacle to compensate the most obvious positions.
2.2kHz 2.5q +5
7kHz 4.5q +5
Thes settings I seperated from AutoEQ PEQ Presets.

https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/tree/master/results/oratory1990/harman_over-ear_2018/Denon AH-D9200
https://crinacle.com/graphs/headphones/denon-ah-d9200/

The sound has become more open and soundstage widened, especially with live recordings.
However, I am a beginner when it comes to EQ and just at the beginning.
Did someone have similar attitudes or experiences with regard to EQ settings that they can share?
Or is it blasphemy to equalize the D9200?

Bismillah

Who here has a reliable frequency graph of the 9200? I have seen conflicting measurements - some indicate a more V shaped signature while the crinnacle one shows a more mid centric signature. When I listen to the 9200 I hear a more V shape. What say you all? Thanks.
