I don't have a local Denon dealer that I'm aware of so I guess I'm back to square one. I'll try contacting Denon directly and see what they have to say, if anything.Only through your local Denon dealer/importer.

Scroll to the bottom of the homepage at Denon.com. Plenty of support options thereI don't have a local Denon dealer that I'm aware of so I guess I'm back to square one. I'll try contacting Denon directly and see what they have to say, if anything.
Well guys, I'm keeping the Denons, they're really good.
At the 5:00 point of "3000 Days" by The Pineapple Thief there's some background bass that seems to be pressurizing the headphones to the point that you're "feeling" the bass more than hearing it.
I recognize that.. Studio version.. Especially from 5:06 - 5:10...
I have something similar with the live version of Hotel California on Hell Freeze Over... The bass in the intro has more foundation that can be 'felt' underneath what you 'hear'..

Hi everyone. I just bought a Denon D9200 and really love this headphone so much, much better than Sennheiser HD650 so much. It is really an upgrade of every thing such as low, midrange, high, basses, image, soundstage, voices, details, .... really feel like an open back headphone. Hopefully there will be a higher model from Denon in the future. Totally happy with this purchase and these headphones sound like you guys described in this topic.
My old headphones were Sennheiser HD598 (a very beautiful yellow headphone but sounded boring), Alpha Dog (a Dan Clark's headphone but this headphone lacks details and got broken after 1 year, the only things I remember about this headphone are the dark black background and the strong basses), Sennheiser HD650 (oh yeah the legendary headphone in the headphones community but it also lacks details, somehow a little bit veil, slow, lack impact basses, average soundstage. The beautiful thing about this headphone is the midrange but it can not play well with modern genres. I still want to keep it to compare to other headphones in the future).

It's probably been mentioned numerous amount of times in this thread, but how to these compare to the TH900s?

From memory (I long sold my TH900) I'd say, the D9200 has smoother treble and is less v-shaped while still very lively and engaging. Isolation is not that high on either one, comfort is very good, yet I prefer the D9200 due to its better paced headband. I also like the removable cable of the D9200 better... while my original TH900 did not have a removable cable, in my opinion the system introduced with the MK2 does not do the beautiful cups justice with those protruding ugly plastic blobs. It's probably been mentioned numerous amount of times in this thread, but how to these compare to the TH900s?
I sold my TH900 long before I got the D9200, mainly because I did not like its treble presentation: just a bit too hot for my taste.
Here's a comparative review of the AH-D9200 with the TH900 Mk2, with 2 other headphones thrown into the mix. It's probably been mentioned numerous amount of times in this thread, but how to these compare to the TH900s?
TLDR - These 2 headphones are cut from the same piece of cloth. With that said, if you prefer a more exciting, bass-focused sound, the Fostex should be your number 1 pick. If you want something with a little more balance and neutrality, go with the Denon.

Looking for opinions on the next step up from the AH-D9200. My only other remaining headphone (sold all others) is the Hifiman Arya. But frankly, I prefer the D9200 for most listening. It's a "calmer", more balanced headphone with great imaging and very good staging. Not as broad and open as the Ayra, but the sound profile is more mellow with better lower registers and more accurate instrument quality.
But I'm always looking for the next best thing. Is there anything that's similar to the D9200, but "better" in terms of dynamics, punch, soundstage, etc. without costing an arm and a leg? I haven't waded into the $2500+ pool yet, but if there's something out there worth trying, I'd be up for it.

If you want to complement the D9200, you enter TH900 modding territory, but it won't replace it, will be just different in the direction you described. Changing pads on the D9200 might achieve much of that effect. Two good choices from my experience, the cheap Chinese TH900 pad replacements and Stax 007/009 pads, all need some mods for best effect. In principle, look for flatter pads with larger inner opening.
These gained top seed in my lineup when paired with the valhalla 2, knocking out the Focal Radiance. Interesting sound signature with an open and deep soundstage with some looseness, probably not for everyone but I'm digging it.
