Oh, I expect them to be way better but was referring to their sonic signature...

J&R ROCKS! I just ordered my D7000@$549.99 shipped and as mentioned, they are an authorized Denon dealer. I have auditioned the HD 800's, balanced,single-ended,tubed and solid state amps... and they are just too polite for my tastes. I love the details of my AKG 702's and the bottom end of a silver re-cabled pair of HD 650's, and I think the D7000's will fit the bill for me.
BTW, what are we looking at for a realistic break-in period?

X2, my experience is very similar. Also just received mine, so don't know about the break-in.

for those who've owned the D7000s for several months now, still in love with them or has the honeymoon ended?

I noticed that some of you guys have both D5000 and D7000? Do they sound huge different ? Or why you keep them both?

Yep, still in love. In fact, after three weeks with the HD800s, the D7000s are still my Desert Island Pick.

Nice gear. I might look into the Woo if I decide to use the Denons with my main system.

Now that's a pretty strong endorsement given the raves going on about the HD 800s.

I find that I can work when I'm listening to HD650s but when I switch to D7000s I can't. In other words, the Denons are very involving and put you in the music and it is very hard to focus on anything else. This is not a bad thing, just something I've noticed. Both are great to me and I'm keeping both. I also have WA6 + Sophia. Pico DAC/Amp seems to do a good job of driving the Denons also. Curious if anyone has tried Pico w/D7000s.
