Is there any truth to this or does this look like a classic flake to you?

Same thing happened to me on a different site. I think they are realizing that they can't sell them for that price. I paid $541 and recieved the same email and then saw them on the same site the next day for $594. I just ordered a pair for $550 from J&R and recieved them in 2 days. They are incredable. I wouldn't trade them for anything. And I would have paid double if I had to.

Suspected so. Appreciate your feedback. Would have contacted J&R but as far as I know they will not ship internationally. Do anyone know of any other companies that actually would ship their listed d7000 internationally at equivalent prices?

Yea that sounds a little shady to me, especially the part about "comparable" products. Try another site

I think "discontinued" just means that the retailer no longer carries them, not that Denon stopped making them.

Ah. I didn't read that far down. Well in that case it sounds like the retailer is BSing because they don't have any in stock and don't want to order any more, most likely because they can't move them except at prices lower than everyone else has, which I'm sure Denon frowns on and makes the retailer very little profit.

Since they are still on Denons web-site, this sounds like the most likely scenario.

Hold on, are people still getting the D7000 deal from J&R? I thought they had stopped that deal, was pretty interested in making a purchase but then I heard that the deal was dead.

Ask to speak to someone else. Eventually you'll get a better price. I even mentioned Head-Fi. I believe, in the end, I got them for $585, shipped.
