Hi all! about a month ago i bought myself a new pair of ah-d5000 after all the good reviews and recommendations i heard about them.

they are fantastic! really listening enjoinment except for one thing...
i think the bass is too much for me! its really heavy.
now i am realising that i maybe not the basshead i thought i am.

i mean...with recordings with not much bass they are great becuase the bass is exactly what i want. but with heavy bass recordings , its just too much sometimes.
do you know if some burn in will reduce the bass a little?
i will be glad to hear some of your opinions regarding the subject!
thx.

Maybe you should try the markl mod, its supposed to reduce the bass on the d5000 while giving it more control. I 've read that it changes more than just bass though but those who did seem to appreciate those changes as well.

thx for the advice. i heard of this moded ah-d5000 before on this forum .
but i dont think i will do that. i dont want to start "shredding" and "ripping" my new denons, i just dont trust myself in this kind of things. and i am too lazy also to buy all this products and start doing it.

i probably have no choice but to stick with the stock one and hope to get used to the bass and maybe ,just maybe, it will relax a tiny bit after some decent burn in. i think that for someone who isnt as lazy as i am this is probably the best idea, to markl the denons.

yea...i guess its another idea, but the problem is that i am using ipod and as you know(or dont)it dont have so much equliser setting to play with so i set it on flat which i think is the most natural sound. it sounds great on every headphones i use exept for the donons bass ofcoure ,which is coming from nowhere... a flat eq i tell you! and the bass is having a party!

Or maybe you can try to use only the d5000 for some time and get used a bit to their sound. If you were really used to the hd595 before, the d5000 might have been a too big change

.

If you don' t live in the us it can get pretty expensive to get those mods done by someone in the us. shipping + the chance to get yourself taxed again.

its all true. i guess i will have to give the denons a chance...
some times the bass is not so bad even very pleasing.
i did got used too much to the hd595...but what can i say...they are just WONDERFUL! my first full size . all i wantes is a little...just little more bass and peircing treble. but i dont regret the denons at all. they are really audiophilic too.

by the way..how much people do markl them? do the most do or doesnt?

plonter: Hard to say. Some people like the default sound. I'd say a lot of people with D2000s don't mod them.

Modding the pads is reversible, damping the cups etc is not.
