Denon AH-D1001 review

The Creative are just a re-brand of the Denons. I just did a re-cable for a guy and they use the same drivers.. The cups are shaped slightly different
And they cost more here in the states. Frys aren't stocking the Denons and replaced them with the Creative. Plus they cost twice as much.

Yeah I've been looking everyday for a good deal on either the D1000/D1001s or the Creative Live! Aurvanas. So far the best for either is $80 shipped. I'm hoping for $60-ish

My bet is 80 shipped will be best you get for new ones (and i personally think you should accept that because it's basically half off list price SO GET EM!) any time soon.

Luckily I'm not in a rush since I've got Creative EP-630 buds for portable use, but man I can't really stand buds or IEMS. And they don't sound that great unless I shove them far in since all 3 sizes don't fit well. Just waiting patiently

well, the ep-630 isn't a good baseline to judge sound quality from a earphone really....

Can anyone reccomend a supplier for the D1000/D001 that ships to the UK?

The cheapest UK supplier is asking £89.99 ($180), the normal price is £100 ($200) and I have seen some suppliers asking up to £150 ($300) which is an outraguous mark-up and puts them in competition with much higher-end headphones.

You can have the Creative Aurvana Live! for ~$80 in Poland. Save some pennies to do this,

and then lough out loud at the K701's, D5000's. Markl mod? If you need perfect allrounders which will never amaze you - get them, otherwise do what you see in the picture and watch your jaw dropping.

i just ordered my 1001's today. I plan to use the with my mbook pro, ipod 5.5 and sansa clip.
Also, i ordered a fiio bc i feel these full size cans will benefit from the amp whereas my sf5p don't need amping.
I'm excited to see some closed cans that are thought of so highly.

They look perfect for me

I had an identical experience with my d1001s as the OP (comparing to hd555s versus his hd580s). The treble in the Denons were much nicer than the Senns, and they get even better with recable. Just like the OP, I noticed the bass and mids clearing up after break-in, and again, even more improvement with recable.

Also, before recable, I preferred the 555s for gaming (CS:S), but now I use the Denons - improved soundstage after recable.
