I will be listening to CD quality music via my sennheiser HD 280 Pros and want the ability to integrate my future sound card with a reciever that i plan to buy later. I plan on connecting my headphones via an RCA Y Adapter

to either

Delta DIO 24/96

M-Audio Audiophile 24/96

or the ESI waveterminal directly since it has 1/4" Jacks

Also how does the terratec DMX 6fire LT stack up to the above cards?

Is this method of headphone connection a good one? (i have no amp currently) and which card of these is best for me? and which is of best quality with respect to music, not gaming.

Thanks

I don't think the y-adapter will work.
These are line outs and you will not have enough current to drive headphones directly.
You will need an amp with any of these choices.
If price is an issue, then maybe a Meta42 would be a good choice for this application.
