Is the bass kind of tubby like on the T20RP MKIII? Not that that's necessarily bad, but curious as to whether the folks who tuned this Blue gem ever used the T20RP MKIII -- which definitely departs in sound signature from the T50RP MKIII -- as a reference point.

I have a set of the Dekoni Blue's and I can say that they are an improvement on the original T50RP MKIII. More and better bass, and my goodness, two great sets of Dekoni pads. The angled Elite pads provide a smooth presentation with lots of low down bass and (surpisingly) the velours give you a more mid forward and very balanced (across the range) sound while still retaining a very nice bass and soundstage. With the $50 rebate, it's actually a great deal. I think the Elites and velours are usually over $100 (together) plus you get the mods. Very nice. I'll be making a full review of them soon...
And...I really like the color. They make me feel...different.
We love our Blue’s blue, too! You are different, discerning, and of good taste sir!
Love the banter here and on the review thread so far! For those that want to preserve their reviews and contribute to strong signal to noise ratios, we also made a Blue item entry in the gear reviews section:

Still, keep up the fun banter and initial impressions here and the official thread!

Hello Head-Fi’ers and Headphone Audio enthusiasts! We wanted to discuss a bit about how we took the T50RP mk III further than just fresh earpads, and give Fostex a thanks for agreeing to officially produce a modded version of their headphone for us. So, we blogged a post for the community, and anyone curious about the sound Dekoni is going for here: https://dekoniaudio.com/a-short-essay-on-the-dekoni-blue-and-why-it-exists/

Do not get the cowhide pads, they add way to much bass to the point its sloppy and muddy. A little air from the protein pads really control and tighten up the bass.
Plus, you know, it’s cowhide... kind of like holding a wallet to your ear.

IDK if this is the right and the official Dekoni Audio Blue thread, but thought I'd just say that I'm highly impressed with these in gaming.
I mainly play Rainbow Six Siege, and I usually use my trusty HD598's. For the past few weeks I have been using the Blue and I found it to perform excellently. I've tried using audiophile cans for gaming in the past, but usually that doesn't go well. In fact, even my favorite audiophile cans aren't a good match for gaming (usually the audiophile tonality simply doesn't work well in gaming).
Blue is different. Tonality is spot on, imaging is spot on, I had no issues with pin pointing where the enemy is.
... and they are extremely comfortable as well

Funnily enough, that was the last thing I was thinking about... even though it should be a priority considering it's a planar.Interesting post. What are you driving them with?
Regardless, I found myself using the EarMen Eagle plugged straight into the keyboard.
