Has anyone tried using their HD-25s without the foam that covers the driver?
How was it sound wise? How about durability issues, does it make the drivers more vulnerable to dirt/damage?

I did so with my pair of HD25's.... great decision. Much more treble sparkle and less muddy sound. Well, i'm team treble anyway, so that shouldn't mean anything to you

I have no durability issues with my phones... try it out

I thought the HD-25-1 II already has plenty of treble energy. A bit much in fact. Quite agree with the muddy part though that really has more to do with the overpowering bass than it being fundamentally muddy or veiled.

Defoaming gives a more pleasant bass for me.
