Has anyone run into a decent player that supports both SACD and DVD-A? I've seen many people praising the Sony NS500V, but was hoping to find something that covers DVD-A as well.

Well, you can get a _decent_ one by buying a Pioneer, esp. the 757i that is based on the improved 656 and not the that remarkable 747, which I don't rate very highly in stock form.

If you want, you can get that modified with a better clock, separate clock source and some modified caps and perhaps the removal of feedback in the op amps right after the DACs.

Modwright.com is one place that usually offers modifications like this, I'm sure there are others.

Other decent models to consider is the Onkyo 800 and the Yamaha SD 2300, which are AFAIK based on similar innards, with different analog sections (and perhaps PSU and changes in video).

regards,
Halcyon
