looking for something to use in my office... say, under 200... used is ok...

i primarily listen to baroque and classical... occasionally some pop... and some "mood" music...

source(s) are various ipods (and sooner or later, an imod)...

mostly use pk1's in the office, but probably will pick up a set of "real" cans sooner or later... i also have a pair of e500's...

suggestions?

I'm no expert, I really don't know anything about amps.
But from hat I've read here the Xin SuperMicro IV is a good and cheap amp, and portable too!

not looking for portable...

plus i'd like to have it before i retire, which may not be possible with a xin amp...

If you can up your budget there is a great deal on a SR-71 in the FS forums right now. That amp was made for classical!

Little Dot Mark III (LD MK III) should be in your consideration.
I'm using it with my HD600. Most of my music are also classical, especially baroque.

Since I never use other good amp. What I can say at the moment is it's surely much better than the phone out on my CD player.
Worth the $ I spent.

Perhaps the 01? I saw it in person. It looked nice, but I didn't get a chance to listen. There was another amp within your budget that someone kept raving about but I'm too lazy to do a search.

Also, for buds/IEMs I'm not sure why you wouldn't just use a portable amp for your office rig. I used a Corda Aria at work for a while but despite its pretty small footprint it still took up too much valuable real estate. I use my portable rig in the office and I have no desire to go back to a home/desktop amp.

a GLite for maybe $240-$250 used. A little more than your budget but a great solid state amp. very compact.
