I wanted these, and was going to buy them from Amazon.com for $299. But so many people were hollering that the two Amazon stores weren't authorized dealers - although I bought my ie7 from one of these stores and had them checked out as being authentic - and it spooked me on the ie8. Well, I looked up authorized dealers on Sennheiser's website and found HeadRoom: Stereo Headphones, Amps & DACs, Wireless, Noise Canceling, Ear Canal, Earbud, Audio Cables & Accessories. I called them up and told them I wanted these phones, but I wanted the the price lower or the same as Amazon. They matched the Amazon.com price and threw in free shipping. So I'm happy with $299 from an authorized dealer. I guess that extra $30 bucks is peace of mind. I should have them Thursday or Friday...

i might have jumped at that price, but it's not worth it waiting more weeks and paying a restocking fee. Most seem to think $299 is a decent price.

Of course I checked with Sennheiser!
Here is the email back:

That's a good price - I paid £185 for mine, the same price as my Sony X.
