I bought a secondhand Bartok (2022) for about 8K USD just before the Apex version released. Where I was located (Indonesia) this was just slightly more expensive than a new Chord TT2. So it was a no brainer when I got the Bartok.

bought it, hooked it up to the ethernet cable at home, and updated the it to version 2.0

Afaik dCS recommends XLR over RCA. Funnily enough I got rid of my Crystal Cable (Piccolo diamond though) RCA in favor of some cheap Van Damme Starquad cables, as well as clock cables and...they sound considerably better. So sticking with them for now.

9.5k upgrade for what was initially a 7.5k or so dac is a tough sell. Even for my Rossini it gives me pause.

Yeah the initial Bartok price Was in line with its performance, everything on top since then is just nuts

With headamp it costs now 25.500€ in germany. The Apex upgrade alone 9.900€

Well it's the same upgrade as the Vivaldi and Rossini essentially. So it is fair, just Not sure how much sense it makes for a Bartok owner.

The headamp version is a bit of a joke Imo, as even the Oor is considerably better than the Lina amp for 10k. Buy dCS dacs, not amps
