The amp section on the Lina Amp is obviously more complicated than the one on Bartok. dCS is also using their proprietary blue box power solution for the entire Lina stack. It gives the best of both worlds of lps and switching power. Whereas the power for the Bartok amp section is a Toroidal Transformer Coil.

I'm sure someone will do a comparison with the Bartok someday, using the Lina amp through Bartok lineout and the Bartok HPA. I'd be curious.

I'd say yes. It costs double of that new.

Bartok received a huge price increase recently. (From 14 to 20k)

Yes. It is a software update that is supposed to provide improvements in SQ as well.

Very likely. When you are dealing with boutique hifi products that's $10k+, your BOM is not all that relevant. You are essentially paying for R&D, extra labor (mostly case work), lack of economies of scale and brand. I am sure dCS is NOT pricing their products based on cost plus model.

Yes..you can access Bartok from web browser in the same network. Just type the ip address and you are into it.

And is the Lina dac to be expected to sound similar to the Bartok? I do not care too much about the form factor or the touch panel of the Lina.
