Hi. My Fischer DBA 02 mk II’s finally died after 4 or 5 years. They were the only IEM’s I used so I haven’t got a great deal to compare them with, but I loved the balanced sound they produced so I’m looking for something similar.

One of my pet hates is bass taking over and bleeding into the midrange so I don’t want anything like that, but at the same time I don’t want anything too thin sounding. The DBA’s got it just right for me.

Anyway, I’m looking at the Audio Technica E50 or LS200. Based on what I’ve said are they a good choice?

Btw, I used comply tips on the dba’s and the earphones will be used exclusively with an iPhone .

Thanks.

First of all I would like to comment on Fischer Audio DBA 02 MK II is a legend. Good choice!

Besides Audio Technica E50 and LS200. You can consider Final Audio F4100, Campfire Audio Nova / Polaris and 1More Triple Driver.

Final Audio F4100 - Do not read on the specifications first. Have a try and you will get amazed when you realised it is only equipped with one balance armature driver! Final Audio claims that one is more than enough and it is true provided your earphone is from them :) The fitting for Final Audio is never a problem because they are tiny and elegant. The sound is full and the bass is well controlled. No bleeding problem so no worries about it!

Campfire Audio Nova / Polaris - Campfire Audio is not as popular as Shure and Westone but I think their products are good. Handmade in Portland and premium cable by ALO Audio. Nova is a dual driver IEM and Polaris is a Hybrid IEM. If you wish to have a well controlled and tight bass you can choose Nova - I hope it is still in production because I heard Campfire Audio is going to discontinue this model. Polaris has a stronger bass and a slight V-shaped signature. The highs is better as compared to Nova.

1More Triple Driver - Cheapest and most affordable choice among all the models. 1More Triple Driver has a balanced and flat sound signature. The impedance is slightly higher so it might drain your phone battery faster. It comes with the lightning terminal for new iPhone so you can forget about the dongle. The box looks cool and it would not appear like a cheap China headphone :)
