I know how to quote, but when a lot of you do it you end up with "originally posted by xxx" in italics just above the quote. I assume you all don't manually type it in, so how do get it to show up?

Click the "quote" button in the bottom-right-hand corner of the post you'd like to quote within the thread.

Use the quote button. If you want several quotes just open new windows of all the quotes you want by using shift+quote button (or right click -> open in new window) and cut/paste them together.

You can also do it all by using the tags...

It's rather easy and fast when you get the hang of it. Tags are nice

You can use the buttons above the reply space for the tags if you can't remember them...

There are buttons for the quotes? I have never noticed them or used them, ever.

Just do [quote at the beginning and [/quote at the end, only with closed brackets instead. Similarly, you can bold something with [b [/b and so on and so forth.

Xevion,

that's how I've always done it, I was just wondering why others got the "originally posted by" message when they quoted.

(Looks at number of posts, does an estimate on the amount of them that were typed in by hand...) You're ****ting me?!?

EDIT: PS I don't know if you should have your post count incremented as a reward for all the extra effort or decremented as punishment for doing it the hard way!

Now you know.

Now we all know!

Just screwing around. It appears the forum software loses track after quoting 3 deep.

Wow, that's really funny, cause I just figured out how to quote earlier today before reading this thread. I feel dumb now.
