Dasetn/Tingo/Baldoor earbuds Reviews and Impressions

My latest (second) order TG-38s and M1 ordered May 2nd, received May 20th. I used standard free shipping, no tracking info. I received them the day after I emailed requesting tracking. Though, I never did get a response. Also I am in Florida if that helps.

Wow what a huge turn for the worse for the TinGos. Probably shouldn't have ordered a pair now. I feel like people were afraid to speak up because of the massive hype/reviews, but when some people were brave enough to post that these are pretty crappy buds other people grew the courage to come forward and say that they've also been horribly disappointed with their purchase.

Sorry, I didn't mean to discourage anyone from buying these!

Everyone's taste and hearing are different, so what may not please me could very well be exactly what you are looking for.
As I said, they are not bad 'buds by any means, they just don't tickle my fancy the way the MX580 does for example. This may very well be due to the V-shaped sound signature of the MX which I love. In direct comparison, the Tingos just sound a bit weak and tinny to me. Once your brain burns in on them, they are actually quite decent and very detailed - just a very different sound signature.
Please, go ahead and buy them, 15 $ is not a big deal. And if you end up hating them, I'm sure there are enough people here who would be glad to buy them from you.

Edit: I just put aside my HE-500 and will be listening exclusively with the Tingos via Fiio E09/E17 combo. :D

OK, let's do it right.

Here are some of the tracks I use to test treble. I have meticulously chosen the specific sources - do not substitute!

Sarah Jarosz - Run away

The queen of sibilance with some guests - Red

Studio version:

Alison Krauss + Union Station - When you say nothing at all

Alison Krauss + Union Station live
The concert ends at 1:56:44, and then starts over with no audio.

Ane Brun - "These Days"

Yanni Nightingale Live At El Morro (Lauren Jelencovich)

And the original:

Eva Cassidy - Autumn Leaves

Eva Cassidy - Ain't no Sunshine
http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Ain+t+No+Sunshine/3RsF7g

Kenny G - Songbird
http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Songbird/6FAkuH

Dolly Parton - Jolene
http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Jolene/4ph3sR

Al Di Meola - The Embrace
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saHYX8CuaKs

and I couldn't find "Eva Cassidy - You take my breath away" that wasn't "hot" online, but in FLAC form it sounds amazing.

I have listened using the following setups:
1) NFB 11.32
2) NFB 11.32 + E12
3) ODAC + E12
4) Geek Out 1000
5) Geek Out 1000 + E12

So when you hear sibilance, please post:
1) The exact track/time
2) Your audio setup
3) EQ/no EQ
4) Did you use foams?
5) Did you point the earbuds toward the ear canal?
6) Where did you buy - Dasetn/Aliexpress/Other
7) Are the left and right channels switched?

Sorry, I can't access any of these. Grooveshark tells me they are not operating in Germany any more, and Youtube seems to have some issues and no videos are playing.
But the sibilance seems to be gone anyway, or I just had a bad track at that moment...

People were afraid? Of what???

"...brave enough..." "...grew the courage..." - sounds like the Lifetime movie of the week is in the works.

I don't think this forum is a place to be afraid.
I do think, however, that fit is absolutely critical, and that may be my issue. When I angle the buds towards my ear canals and hold them, the sound improves noticeably. Now if I can just get them to stay that way when I remove my hands...

So are you no longer underwhelmed? Or are you still not impressed?

If the sibilance has gone away so suddenly, then it must have been a bad track.

Since most consumer headphones have really poor treble extension, many albums today are mastered "hot" - with elevated treble.
When listening to such albums on headphones with proper treble, they will always sound bad.
MX760 is a much safer choice for anyone who has many such "hot" tracks.

Ooooh, you've got me interested

@BenF  I'm warming up to them. As I say, the longer you listen to them consecutively the more appealing they get. The sibilance is still kind of there, but I guess I'm getting used to that as well.
Plus, I've been fidgeting with fit and am achieving better results through that as well.

At one point they were offering a $5 discount to anyone from Head-fi. Not sure if they are still honoring that. Let us know as I am still thinking of getting them to add to the corral.
