Hey guys, I've finally decided to take the lunge into the world of tube amps, and with my HD580, I've narrowed it down to two amps, the DV 336i and 332. Now, the main problem is that the 332 is like 200 dollars more than the 336i. What I'm asking, is does the 332 outperform the 336i enough to justify the price difference? I'm looking at either 1) buying the 332, and just leaving it at that; 2) Buying the 336i, maybe tuberolling a bit, and upgrading my cable for the Senns (as I have the stock HD580 cable at the moment.)

My total budget is about what the 332 costs nowadays (450~, probably a bit less, depending on how much I can sell some of my current gear for.)

The 580s are great with the DV...Some say they are better with the 332 and that it is a better amp and I'm sure it is, however, the rolling possibilities with the 2 tubes of the 336 are endless (and very addictive

)...The 336i is hard to come by now. I bought the 336SE and it is a great amp. Shoot jasmine_chine a message and find out if they have any 336i in stock....Excellent customer service.

I own the 336SE and I find it pretty nice, although the wide selection of tubes available is something to really watch out for

Haha this is absurd. Anyway I would step up for the 332 if I were you, because you will probably want the 332 after you have the 336 and will just cost you more in the end

well ...hang on a sec ...the new 3322 may be coming to North America. Can't say more right now, but you may want to hold off for a while

As for your direct question, 332 has more "punch". Both are very nice and well suited to Sens. Should you ever decide to upgrade your sens to 650's the 332 will make more sense.

Woo Audio is another strong option. US -based support also. The 3+ uses 6AS7G power tube and 6922 driver tubes. A LOT of rolling possibilities out there.
