I can't believe people still haven't heard of this. At the lion's third roar (with the movie muted of course), you start playing DSotM and certain lyrics in the album relate to what goes on in the movie. There are a million websites devoted to this, a quick google search will reveal more info.

My question is: Has Pink Floyd ever responded to this unfortunate/fortunate coupling?

yeah gilmours said its all a coincidence on may an occasion.. its all really down to the fact that:

a) they were architecture students (waters, wright & mason) and big into films.
b) they released a few soundtracks (3).

personally i think its a load of crap, although have yet to check it out..

i've always believed in the between the 2nd and 3rd roar start. good stuff. even though i usually experienced the "dark side of the moon" under the influence of a wide variety of here unnamed substances what i remember was good stuff.

haven't we discussed this here before?

You can actually read Gilmour's response to this in last months edition of Uncut. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of DSOTM, they published an excellent interview with all four members. Gilmour said they did not produce DSOTM to correlate with The Wizard of Oz.
