It's very rare one comes across a very good DAP that also offers the good ol' FM Radio chip.

Most <$100 music players do offer FM tuner but not the mid-fi or hi-fi or summit-fi DAPs. And this is the thread to post those that do. Just so we don't miss that surprise song a radio station might throw at us while we are not listening to the our SD card libraries.

Blind control (physical side buttons) that can let us change FM stations can be an icing on the top.

In addition to almost all <$100 Sony mp3 players, their own A10 series, A20 series and A30 series NWZ Walkman models offer FM Radio listening and/or recording.

Sony NWZ-A25

However, the latest Sony NWZ-A30 series, despite the FM Tuner provision, doesn't offer FM Recording and blind control via side buttons.

Chinky, fizzy, static with FM radio.

What would be much better is a DAP with DAB Radio. I had a DAP from iRiver 5 years ago which had DAB Radio, and the sound was great, no interference or static, and it allowed me to record the songs too! The signal is much more reliable with DAB.

Please recommend as many models/brands as possible. :)

Here's an option. The LG Stylus DAB+ Smartphone, it has a good audio DAC and also has DAB Radio. Cheaper than many DAPs.

Thanks. That's a really helpful device. I guess the stylus pen goes into the headphone out to play the stations through speakers without using data. I was hoping for a DAP or DAP-like smartphone that lets us enjoy radio through IEMs. Please let me know if you could think of anything.

You said: "I guess the stylus pen goes into the headphone out to play the stations through speakers without using data." < this comment doesn't make any sense, why would the Stylus pen need to be plugged into the headphone out? The Stylus pen has it's own slot.

Regardless, the DAB Radio will work through your IEMs. Plug-in your earphones and switch on the DAB Radio, wallah!

I am afraid, I am aware of the fact that earphones work as the antenna for FM reception when plugged into headphone-out since that's how I have been accessing FM and digital stations for the last 30 years of my life. Since you showed the pictures of a phone with stylus pulling in the digital stations, I assumed you wanted to recommend the said product thinking I didn't have earphones and depended on built-in speakers for listening. And that's why I reiterated my original request: could you recommend a very good DAP or DAP-quality smart phone with an FM chip that lets me use my IEMs? The very thread is for the sake of finding such recommendations.

Thanks. How good is the DAC part?

I couldn't quote you thd and such. And

im only using the supplied earbuds
but there is a local FM radio station
which we can only get on the car radio
(not alarm clock radio)
and i get it on x20 without static or hum
Sounds like an mp3 or flac.
Not overly loud but compares nicely with
Sansa fuze plus costing 5x as much.
