Hello Head-fiers.
I'm searching for a portable SQ improvement on a tight budget.
If any of you could sort through some of this information and wheight it. I'm looking for the best combination where prize means a bit more to me than SQ (but still, I don't want to end up unsatisfied with the SQ).
(DAPs)
The SQ winner in the cheap end seems to be the Clip+. Now I have to ask you all something. I've been to Amazon. The reviews for SQ are mostly very praising, with a score of 4.5/5
This should speak very, very clear. But the SQ reviews for Zen V are also 4.5/5 and also mostly very positive.
That's confusing, because I've lent a Zen V years ago, and I'd rate it 2.5/5 and describe it as very thin and dull, not sparkling or crispy or whatever at all.
The in-ears used were capable of delivering a crispy, detailed sound on a laptop and my old treasured Pontis SP600, and they were also better on the generelly not highly favored Walkman phone W880i.
I am a total noob, but I could get the suspicion that Clip+ isn't that special audio-wise. I'm currently offered good deals on two other players: Cowon J3 (of which I hear the EQ is the most important signifier) and Sony NWZ-S544, which seems unlockable volume-level-wise, and therefore almost disqualified.
(HEADPHONES)
Most of my considerations are in-ears.
Sonix SX800-B (in-ears. Got some great reviews on Amazon, so..)
Sennheiser CX300-B (in-ears. Seem affordable, and I trust Sennheiser)
Thinksound Rain 9mm Wooden (in-ears. The sound should be very good. They seem to break easily compared to other products, although it's easy to get brokens replaced.)
Sennheiser HD-280 PRO (not in-ears. Should be awesome SQ)
Sony MDR-V6 (not in-ear and a bit more expensive than I'm aiming for, but classic awesome SQ.)
Thanks in advance, and kind regards
