Stealth on a portable chain? You are a brave one. What does that look like so far?
I probably messed up lol. Got mojo2 + poly. Saw a Stealth for sale and picked it up. Some people said it’s not a bad combo. If it’s alright with mojo2 and it’s extra current that’s fine and I can use it on my main rig anyways.

Stealth can be used portable or shal I say transportable.

My transportable setup for stealth.
iPhone/iPad Pro M4 to Chord Hugo 2 to Cayan C9 to DCA Stealth or any other headphone I travel with.

Just sold C9 upgraded to the C9II.

This combo works well amazingly well.

That will work with the addition of Cayan C9 or C9II. I’ve used that combo also. So don’t be afraid.

I got the Stealth last month and on the Topping G5 it sounds excellent. They weren't that hard to power since they don't (for me) need any equalizing. Also the ear cup material dampens so much I didn't need a lot of volume. I knew something was up when I first put them on and could only hear my heartbeat when music wasn't playing. More than any ANC with the white noise hiss, true silence.

There is nothing wrong with that combo. You don't have much extra headroom on the Mojo2, but the combination is still excellent. You can just bump up the bass shelf if you want a little extra thump.

I've noticed it takes a good 15-20 minutes of wearing the Stealth before it opens up and you start to notice it's technicalities. When I start to hear my own heartbeat, I know I've reached that warm up period. I think it has to do with the ear cups expanding and creating a seal after you put them on. It takes a while for that to happen, but I'm always impressed at how much it blocks out and how I hear my heartbeat when no music is playing.

DX300 Max is a good transportable setup with Stealth and Expanse.

Yes, a powerful rig is better but if transportable is needed then DX300 Max does it service.

Do you up the sub bass or mid bass or both? What are your personal EQ settings with the Mojo2? Thanks.

Both.

My settings are are not scientific. When the bass is thumping, I am satisfied. This is usually only with EDM. I've maxed out the bass shelf yet the Stealths show no sign of distortion. And, the bass produced is palpable.

For 95% of my listening, I don't touch the EQ. The point is you can tweak the sound that you feel as lacking rather than switch headphones. The stealths respond to the Mojo2 EQ well. You shouldn't feel wanting when using with the Mojo2.

hmm I only get the heartbeat effect when I press on the cups.. maybe I should add a 4th washer to the clamp kit but last time the jaw pressure was annoying. Wish I had a wider head! :o2smile:

Same here I can't believe I barely listen to Susvara anymore, Stealth is just that good. The HM1 (as you surely know!) shows that unbeatable tonality, resolution and texture but combines it with incredible body and slam!:k701smile:
You are getting slam with the Stealth? I get more slam with the Susvara off my Envy.

I love the TCs and the Susvaras. I recently got the Stealths. I think the issue with the bass "controversy" is that the Stealths present bass differently than most headphones. The subbass on the Stealths is very prominent; not TC prominent, but Susvara-level prominent. Many other headphones emphasize the mid-bass over subbass, such as the Solitaire Ps. Also, I think it's important to recognize that slam and bass quantity aren't the same thing. You can have a lot of slam, but little bass quantity. The Steaths don't have a ton of slam, but they still have good bass quantity. If you do a "bass shaker" test, you can clearly hear that the Stealths have a lot of bass and rumble at the lowest end.

Maybe distortion does play a part in this. I can't test for that, but I have optimized my setup for minimal distortion, having custom PSUs for my dac and selecting high end streamer components.

One thing though is certain in my mind, no headphones have TC-level bass quantity (except the TCs), and that includes the Steaths
It's been a while since I owned the SOLP and TCs but I still felt the SLOP had good sub bass prowess. I preferred the bass on the SOLP but maybe I never got the fit quite right on the TCs.

Hi, you replied to an old post but yeah I've been tweaking my setup for a while and now I've got a setup that indeed makes the Stealth slam if I get the seal right! I haven't heard the Envy but the HM1 is still to this date the only amp I have heard that really does that for Stealth and Susvara.
However slam is very subjective, a lot of people think Utopia has a lot of slam but for me while it is highly engaging and energetic it is missing some crucial subbass that's necesssary to evoke that feeling.

For me whether Stealth or Susvara slams more is quite song dependent. To my ears the Stealth is slightly deficient a bit above 100hz, and if a song doesn't have a lot of energy there the Susvara wins. However on other songs the Susvara sound quite laid-back (haven't exactly pinpointed on what causes this) and then it's vice-versa.

I've noticed some people don't like driver crinkling but it is actually a great measure of the seal you're getting.
If you hear crinkling the moment you touch the earcups you've got the best seal, if you don't hear any crinkling until .5-1 cm pad compression you've got a slightly compromised seal. If you don't hear it until the inserts are pressed against your ears or you don't hear it at all when you press you've got a seriously compromised seal and you're not listening to what the headphone is capable of.
Do note that warming up the pads means the seal will improve after 10-20 minutes of wearing the headphones.
