I thought I'd be in club DCA. I registered my NX that I purchased through Headphone Bar on the product registration page before. Did I do anything wrong here?
I'm in the same boat now that Headphone Bar has closed. I'll be buying direct through DCA as well to take advantage of the 15% discount. I just bought two DCA cables from Norne so the timing couldn't be better to add the XO to my collection.

As a DCA owner...I wonder if I will ever cross over to an open-back like the XO...hmmmmm.....ngl, they made the XO look sexy like the Expanse, but they mailed in the look of the Noire X--WHICH I HATE. And as a closed back DCA fan, there is no way I buy the Noire X because the specialness of that makes a DCA set isnt there. Those all black cups aint it.

Will there ever be an open back E3?
I wondered the same thing but I think that boat has already sailed with this headphone. Unless Dan surprises us latter, I think the new Noire XO would be the open back E3, because Dan says he doesn't de-feature their headphones, meaning this should have the same technical capabilities (or better) as the E3 but has a slight alternate sound at a cheaper price. I own the E3 and I prefer it to the Stealth for example but I know it comes down mostly to the sound signature because they both have top tier technical capabilities. I think when something very new comes down their pipeline such as a new AMTS system or a completely redesign of their drivers, we won't see anything related to the Ether series again (the E of E3 stands for Ether if I understand correctly). At that point it would be in the form of an E4.

As a side note, as an owner of an E3 I would say that if someone could get 95% of the same headphone at a cheaper price I would absolutely recommend it, whether that is Noire X or the new XO. The E3 made me feel for the first time like every other more expensive headphones will be just a side upgrade to it.

I've been considering getting a DCA headphone for a while now, but gotten sidetracked by different things. I only need a little bit of sound isolation, but the reason I've been mostly looking at closed backs in the last few years is to avoid the bookshelf speaker sound that a lot of open back headphones have. I was planning to finally get the E3 this summer, but an open back that has full range sound at a very reasonable price might make me skip the E3. Really looking forward to people's impressions of this and how it compares to the E3.

Hopefully these clock in at around 400g or less as I find weights at the 450-500g area to be a bit too heavy for listening sessions of more than 2 hours.

I believe you are in luck. These should be right at the 400g mark.

Is the XO more open than the Expanse? Expanse (called open-back too) was more like a semi-open or closed-back headphone, regarding isolating sounds from around and even the own voice. I don't know DCA's other open-back headphones, so I can't compare them. I wish, the XO let's sounds/voices through to my ear. Then the XO will be another no-brainer, just like the NX was.

Yes, it has about 50% less isolation than Expanse, though it does still offer some it's easy to hear someone talking to you, etc. It's enough to probably mute background noise from AC etc.

I'm waiting for all these new technologies to be transferred to the Stealth and Expanse Mark2.

The question is- when?

It seems from Jude that the Noire XO model sounds 98% like a stealth so I do not know why anyone would pay more than triple for a stealth. Once the Stealth and Expanse get a facelift- then they need to be be 15-20% ahead- and it may be worth it in that case to purchase them. If this wont happen, than DCA cannibalized all Stealth and Expanse sales forever.. Perhaps DCA could chime in on what their plans are in terms of applying all this newer technology to the Flagship models.
